Please stop crashing

When this app works, it is great. OK, I would have liked the preview windows a little larger but, no big deal. The problem is, it NEVER WORKS.
All I wanted it for was to take 8-10 second mp4 segments out of 4 minute HD video avi files (approx. 250MB). Not a huge deal, right? Well, it crashes 3 out of 4 times when you open a video file. After the elusive 25% successof actually opening a video file, it crashes 1 out of 5 times while converting the video. I paid $36 for this and I spend most of my interface time with it restarting it. LAME.
